The Brazilian Bean and Pulses Institute - IBRAFE - is the only entity that represents and develops the interests of the Bean and Pulses Production Chain, and, gathers the most passionate about the Bean culture.
IBRAFE arose from the need of the bean sector to have an interlocutor that could act in its favor. One of its first achievements was the reduction of the ICMS tax on beans, to 1% in some states and even zero in others. This tax incentive was the first step of many towards improvements for the chain. Currently, its action has been extended to the other pulses: peas, lentils and chickpeas.
In order to strengthen the whole bean production chain in Brazil, IBRAFE has been working together with representatives of the sector to find solutions and incentives to strengthen everyone: researchers, growers, seed producers, packers, exporters, retailers, among others, with discussions on agronomic issues, investments, cultivation of varieties, new inputs, consumption incentive, among others.
